The British decimal five pence (5p) coin - often pronounced five pee - is a unit of currency equalling five one-hundredths of a pound sterling.

In 1968 a 5p was larger. This was before the currency was decimalised. On 27 June 1990 a smaller 5p coin, was first issued. It retained the original design by Christopher Ironside

and composition of cupronickel (75% Cu, 25% Ni).

This is a first edition 1990 small 5p coin and it's rarity and historic significance makes it a prize addition to any coin collection especially for the British enthusiast.
