Historic Perspective 

 

Italy has been a democratic republic since June 2, 1946, when the monarchy was abolished by a public referrendum. 

 

The role of the Marshall Plan in Italy’s recovery after World War II was crucial. Implemented by the United States, this plan aimed to provide financial aid to European countries, including Italy, in order to rebuild their economies and prevent the spread of communism.
