The Morgan dollar is a United States dollar coin minted from 1878 to 1904, in 1921, and beginning again in 2021 as a collectible.

Morgans are the first standard silver dollar minted since the passage of the Coinage Act of 1873, which ended the free coining of silver and the production of the previous design, the Seated Liberty dollar.

It's named after its designer, United States Mint Assistant Engraver George T. Morgan. The obverse depicts a profile portrait representing Liberty, modeled by Anna Willess Williams, while the reverse depicts an eagle with wings outstretched. The mint mark, O for New Orleans, appears on the reverse above "Dollar".

The obverse side features a profile of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap with the word "Liberty" on her hair band, bordered by "E Pluribus Unum," the date issued, 1889, and thirteen small stars representing the original colonies.

The reverse side features a bald eagle clutching an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, surrounded by "United States of America," "One Dollar," and "In God We Trust."

This rare coin with a Key Date of 1889 and an off centered die/planchet mint error with a reed type edge, weighs 26.73 grams and contains 90% pure silver.  The Morgan Silver Dollar is a big coin measuring 38.1 mm in diameter.  All factors add to it's increased value making it a prized addition to any coin collection.
